My Weekly Plus Size Fit Pregnancy Workout Routine

I know I mention it every week in my weekly bump updates but I wanted to give you the full picture into what workouts I do on a daily basis. I am currently doing 5 days a week of actual workouts. I found out early on that trying 6 was just too much and I opted to do healthy activities with my family on Saturdays instead. I do like a mix of workouts and I can't do all the 21 Day Fix approved workouts so I have come up with my own routine.

SUNDAY: 
I used to do yoga on Sundays but I am actually using  Sundays specifically as my hypnobirthing training day doing a full 2 hour session. I love the relaxation I get from it but it is the one day that I spend a whole 2 hours just listening to the entire playlist I have to help me prep and prepare for labor and birth!

MONDAY: 
21 Day Fix Yoga from Sunday to Monday. I have really enjoyed yoga this time around again. It feels amazing! Most moves are modified to accommodate my growing belly. You can click here to view my modifications!
TUESDAY: 
Active Maternity Workout exclusively available on Beachbody On Demand. Loving these workouts based on trimester. Just started doing the 3rd trimester for fun!

WEDNESDAY:
21 Day Fix Pilates. I have to cut one section completely from this routine, but it is after a killer leg section so I just take a longer break. But overall, this is a great workout!

THURSDAY:
Active Maternity Workout exclusively available on Beachbody On Demand. Repeat of Tuesday.

FRIDAY: 
FREE DAY! I get to choose any workout I want to do. Lately though, I have been going back to my yoga! It just feels right!

Also on each day I try to fit in and do the Diary of a Fit Mommy Fit For Two workout, but it isn't consistent. Now that I have moved my weights to my room I think I can fit it in better. Plus we are trying to get in a nightly walk with the family before we put the kids down for bed. It isn't much, because we make both boys walk the whole time but we are up to .5 miles with Collin walking the whole thing and loving it! Great way to get energy out of them at the end of the day!

SATURDAY:
Try to do a healthy activity with the boys. Run around at the park or go for a longer walk. Starting this Saturday I will be volunteering with a local woman's running group and will help with the walking group, so I will be getting in some mileage in on Saturday mornings!

I Workout Because...

Over the years my reason to workout has changed so much. Originally it was to lose weight to get pregnant because having PCOS made me gain more weight and also difficult to lose weight. Or to lose weight for an upcoming trip with the family.

Now it is so much more. I almost died last year. I have been given a second chance to be with my family. To live a life. And darn it, I better not waste it! That means being the best that I can be. That means taking care of me everyday. That means actually working my butt off to find time to exercise and eat better ever single freaking day. I have come up with emotional and physical reasons that actually rock me to the core on why I choose to exercise and eat healthy every single day. It is so much more than just for my family but it is for me too! It is apart of me and is the main reason why I have changed my lifestyle.

Need help finding your why? Ask yourself these 5 questions!

1.  What makes you come alive?
2. What has happened in the past that made you really think you need a change?
3. How will it affect those around you if you decided to not change and if you decided to change?
4. How would you feel if you stayed the same and never felt?
5. What are you willing to do to get the results you want?

I challenge you to sit down today and think about why you want to exercise. why you want to eat better. And if it doesn't have you crying or emotional dig deeper! Now the second part of this is to WRITE IT DOWN and place it where you see it everyday! Don't just think about it, put it into action!

Is It Safe To Do Planks While Pregnant

I have been getting asked this question A LOT lately! Is it safe to do Planks or ab work while pregnant? Yes, but you have to listen to your body and be very careful! During pregnancy you are more prone to develop diastasis recti, which is a separation of the abdominal muscles. Diastasis recti results from the growing uterus pushing against the abdominal wall, which is susceptible to separating because of a hormonally-induced softening of the fibrous band that connects the recti muscles. 
You are more prone to diastasis recti if you are over 35, have poor abdominal muscle tone, have had multiple pregnancies, delivered a baby with a high birth weight, and engaging in aggressive abdominal exercises, especially crunches, during pregnancy. 

Be sure to talk with your doctor first and ask him how to monitor your belly for the signs of diastasis recti. I personally do not do any standard crunches or standard planks during pregnancy for this very reason. I modify them and really listen to my body.

22 Minute Hard Corps #BOD Exclusive Sneak Peek

Yesterday Beachbody gave a fun Superbowl Sunday Sneak Peek to it's newest workout program 22 Minute Hard Corps (pronounced Kor)! Hard Corps was designed and created by Tony Horton, the same guy who came out with the entire P90 and P90X series, yeah, that guy!

A little background history on how this program came into play. After Tony's dad passed away the family found out that he was a huge support of the Wounded Warrior project, making donations every single month. Tony himself has been a huge support of the military, traveling to bases to train the soldiers, and visit with them with the USO tours. He wanted to show his support and even include the military in his newest military style workout.

What makes this workout so unique is that every workout features REAL VETS doing the workout with you. It is not set to a fun upbeat style of music. It is set to military drum corps cadence. And they count each rep just like in military PT (physical training). The workouts are only 22 minutes long. There isn't a whole lot of time explaining what the exercise looks like, because it is basically the typical workout moves you are already pretty familiar with. The goal, or your mission directive, is to keep up as much as you can. It is a fast paced 22 minutes. No time for breaks ( you get 22 seconds 3 times), and if you have to take a break he asks that you at least march in place.

Matt is my Army Officer. I had him do the workouts with me. He has been so excited for this program since it was announced last summer at the annual Beachbody convention. After yesterdays workout, he is convinced that the workout will be part of many military bases daily PT exercises. And the fact that it is only 22 minutes makes it that much more enticing to the military. Start and get done fast! So for a military stand point this is going to be a very popular workout series for military personal! And the fact that Matt enjoyed it so much, yeah, he can't wait till March 1st to get his hands on this workout!

January 30 Day Plank-A-Day Challenge



It's another month and the holidays are NOW BEHIND US! Time to get busy! I thought it was the right time to do a 30 day Plank A Day challenge! Sounds great right?!?

Planks, oh planks! They kill me every time. Why? Because it is a full body exercise. It uses your whole mind and body to do them. Yes, mind! For me it is a mind over matter issue. If I just turn off my brain and keep it from thinking about how much my legs and core are shaking then I could just hang on a little bit longer. Let's engage our cores, and push our heels back and hold a strong plank. 


Here are the different level of planks you can do: Start as a level one and then you can progress from there as you get more comfortable and strong!

My Next Adventure!

I am a researcher. I try to find as much info about something before I decide to do it. From everything I have read: "workouts are easy to follow, modifier, well thought" out all those things are great but, well, I found this momma of 3 who was part of the test group for the exact same workout program I want to do next month. 20 pounds, SHE LOST 20 pounds!!! Yeah, I'm doing it.

Since December is Ab month I wanted to share this awesome STANDING AB ROUTINE! Not all abs are defined doing crunches on the floor. Actually one of my favorite core routines I have ever done is in PiYo and almost all the moves are standing positions! And boy howdy does it work your body!

December 30 Day Ab Challenge

It's another month and this is the month of cookies, sweets, sugars and decadent dinners. To avoid getting your own belly that shakes like a bowl full of jelly I thought it was the right time to do a 30 day AB challenge! Sounds great right?!?

Abs are so important though, they help protect your back, keep your posture finely tuned and help you just feel strong. Are you going to get a 6 pack doing these? Maybe, if you lose body fat on top of doing the exercises. But for me I know that I have a six pack under my fat because it would take a LOT for me to get visible abs. But just because I am plus sized doesn't me I shouldn't work my ABS off! (like that huh!) If anything we should be working our core more as plus sized women because we need to compensate for the extra stuff we already have. And that is ok! I love my curves and I have accepted that I have a belly. I have 2 beautiful babies! But here is the thing, I am fit. I am healthy. And I love my body and am taking care of it. It is just taking me a lot of hard work to get to where I want to be!

So let's go ladies! let's work our abs off! And get a strong core which will help us with all of our other daily things we do!

Stretches for Tight Hips

Oh my legs and hips are super sore and tired from my workouts I have been doing this week. Tonight I am taking the time to stretch them out and help them out a little! Thankfully I have Pilates on the schedule for tomorrows workout and not strength training but I still need to stretch them tonight. I'm following this exercise routine to help me out!

21 Day Fix Video


Check out 21 Day fix! It is seriously the one workout that has changed my life! I look at food and exercise in a whole new way now because of it. I have lost 20 pounds because of this workout. If you have any questions about it and want more information please let me know!

November 30 Day Squat Challenge


New month means a whole new monthly challenge! Here we go 30 days to a sexy, lifted, slimmer, rounded butt!

28 Day Push Up Challenge Check in!

Hey Guys! So we are more than half way in to our 28 day push up challenge. Just 13 days left! How are you all doing. Um me, I am up to 5 without knees for regular style YEA! but I am not able to get down to as low as I want and I am shaking like a leaf trying to get up on the 5th one. After Arms Workout Stretches

So you just finished doing your 28 day push up challenge workout for the day. MAKE SURE that you stretch out those muscles or you are going to be sore, sore, SORE! Sometimes I catch myself at the end of a workout and just walk off without doing my stretches but that is not the safe thing to do. The muscles get tight when we work them and we want them to be lengthened and lose when we are done. Hold each stretch for at least 30 seconds. I like to hold stretches for a long time because they feel sooooo good! So go on take a few minutes to stretch out your body! Check out my 3 faves below!

The stretches you want to do after an arm workout are just like the ones you did in PE back in the days!

The tricep pull pictured at the top is great!

The cross body arm stretch is another oldie but goodie!
 And my 3rd favorite is the Chest and Bicep Doorway stretch.
